Michael A. Sclafani, MD

Dr. Michael Sclafani is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Sports medicine and Knee and Shoulder arthroscopic surgery. He attended Colgate University and then completed his medical training at New York medical college. He was awarded the New York Medical Scholar award, the Ruggiero Surgery award, and was inducted into the AOA medical honor society.

Dr Sclafani studied orthopedic surgery and trauma surgery at New York University. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute, studying with Dr James Andrews. During his fellowship, Dr Sclafani learned advanced techniques in arthroscopic shoulder and knee reconstruction. He also performed research on anterior cruciate ligament injuries and presented his findings at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Sports Medicine Society.

Dr Sclafani has continued his study of knee and shoulder injuries and is interested in returning athletes to their sports through advanced physical therapy training. He is especially experienced in arthroscopic reconstruction and he feels that minimal incision surgery gives an athlete the best chance to return to their previous level of competition.
